Hello,
I am using an app called corvus https://corvuskit.com/en . That is blindness specific suite off apps with screen reader included developed here in slovakia. Of course I am biased but I must say this is damn powerfull app with various services integrated.

The chinese screen reader you are thinking about is called Jieshuo often translated as commentary screen reader (CSR for short). CSR has a feature called gamer mode. Once the app is enabled for the gamer mode CRS automagically disables touch exploration when that app is in focus. So for self-voicing apps it is no longer needed to disable and enable the screen reader manually.

Oh btw and this will most likelly be interesting to Harri as well:
Since API level 30 there is a method setTouchExplorationPassthroughRegion
It can disable touch exploration for selected region. So there is no need to stop the whole accessibility service. It's working even when multiple accessibility services are running. So in theory MBraille should implement a minimal accessibility service with this functionality of disabling explore by touch feature for the region where the keyboard is showing. Other screen readers such as talkback are expected to respect this. Advanced braille keyboard is doing this already.

Greetings

Peter

Interesting... Does the keyboard input also work while the screen reader is running?
Is it this Chinese screen reader that must be side-loaded, don't remember the name now?

Note that in 0.9.1 there is no longer a choice in settings to speak using TalkBack, VoiceOver, etc. for mobile, but it will default to that if it detects that screen reader is running and locale matches phone locale.

Best regards,
Harri

Hello,
I am using a different screen reader on android. But when checked in the MBraille settings it can speak through a screen reader.
I believe it uses accessibility announcement events under the hood.

Greetings

Harri can New Mbraille be used with talkback without self voice? Some of my frends who use Android are asking.

Subject: [MBraille-Test] v0.9.1 fixing and polishing

# Version 0.9.1

Polishing and fixing only this time.

* Changed the audio library used to a low latency one, so it should feel faster.

* Cleaned up VoiceOver use in iOS, it should now use VoiceOver, with the speed you configured for VoiceOver.

* Tuned the speed scaling of iOS self voicing, slowest was too slow, fastest too fast. This is platform dependent, so let me know how it feels now.

* Changed the keyboard click sound

* Announce beginning of text when deleting backwards by word, when nothing left to delete. (swipe left with two fingers)

* Adjusted self voicing speed scaling for iOS

* Self voicing on iOS can also now be interrupted, like on Android. It can still probably be improved, let me know if needed.

Best regards,

Harri
