Hi Harri!

Can you look into why preview mode works quite slow eren when selfvoicing is used?
I have had some trouble editing text but am still trying to reproduce how so I can make a bug repport.

Best regards Thomas

Hi,

Yes, definitely stopping audio-ducking is required when MBraille moves to background.  Already done in my dev version.  Thanks for noticing this!

You mentioned "missed translation strings"
Can you mention what string exactly, where?   There may be few in the same area, but MBraille starts to be quite big...  :)

Best regards,
Harri

Hi Harri!

That looks much better. It missed translation strings though.
I will say though that the audio ducking should be stopped if MBraille is not in focus. If not, this might lead to a bad user experience. I actually encountered this myself earlier today. I never use the audio ducking feature of VoiceOver, but as I mentioned earlier, I used MBraille for a few tasks, and that was fine.
I then started listening to some music and podcast episodes, and I couldn't figure out why the volume of anything else than VoiceOver was very low, when VoiceOver reacted at it's normal volume.
So please consider this, if audio ducking can't be turned off by the user. Either let the audio ducking wait until a future version, or at least implement some magic that restores normal volume if MBraille is running in the background.

Hi,

I can investigate for a future version.
Btw. did you try the external keyboard mode yet?  That one also got some changes to hopefully better accommondate VoiceOver navigation, not just using announcements.

Best regards,
Harri

Hi Harri!

More about the audio ducking feature:
Can you make the feature so the ducking will expire?
I opened MBraille beta and wrote a few things, then exited the app, but kept it alive in the background.
Can you make it so, if MBraille is not in focus the audio ducking will be disabled and enabled again when MBraille Beta is in focus?
I wonder if the feature could be disabled if selfvoicing is turned off by the user?
In many cases VoiceOver would handle the audio ducking if selfvoicing is turned off explicitly by the user.

I really want to make this a smooth user experience, so sorry since this isn't the right time to suggest this.

Hi Harri!

Latest build feels a little better. However the debug options need some accessibility love. I was not sure how no interact with the slider for enabeling the debug settingt. It changes frm 0 til 0,1, so hopefully I got it set up right.
I also tested the audio dugging, and it works. I tested with some music playing in the background. I like the way it works. Can you do something so the clicks again can use the default os sound? If not it is ok, but I just like the default click. :)

I will do some more testing and share more feedback later.

Best regards Thomas

Hi there,

This version feels snappy to me, but if you feel it still is dragging its feet, please enable telemetry in the settings.  Then I will hopefully get timing data (not what you are writing).

Best regards,
Harri
