When you initialize the keyboard, you should in the end swipe down for newline. This defines what down is. Swipe right with 4 fingers to reinitialize it.
That said, I just did it myself and noticed that it announces keyboard initialized already after the 6th dot and only then asks for swiping down for newline.
Regarding the new commands, you are correct, those have not yet been translated from English.
