Hi Peter,
Thanks for reaching out.
Indeed, I have ticket about backspace announcing wrong things
if you backspace before expansion.
Especially in contracted Braille it is hard to get it right,
but it can surely be improved. Multi-sign characters are the
same, conceptually those are also a form of contracted Braille.
I'll address these and other issues, including specifics for
Slovak Braille in future releases.
Best regards,

Hello Harri,
I have took the latest beta for a spin right now and I am sure
slovak braille may not be fully up to date.
Here is what I am seeing and I wish to be improved for the
future.
While typing I can type some of the diacritic characters and
punctuation symbols such as dots 16 for á (a with acute), dots
2346 for ž (z with caron), dots 236 for ( (left paren), dots
356 for ) (right paren) and more. However when using 4 finger
swipe left as backspace key a different symbols are spoken.
For example when deleting letter ž I am getting "exclaim"
spoken. While deleting letter á I am getting "asterisk"
spoken.
In slovak we have just single grade.
Also the issue I have mentioned previously that I am unable to
type in numbers using numeric prefix 3456 this is working fine
after all but I see it a little bit missleading. As soon as I
type in 3456 I will get hash spoken. Then when continuing
typing in I am getting a, b, c, d and similar spoken but
numbers are written into the buffer correctly.
Now after reading the help I can understand the workflow with
numbers is somewhat expected as when pressing the space or the
enter key the input is processed for contractions.
However I don't yet understand why something else is being
spoken when using the backspace key. I can understand that 16
for asterisk, 2346 for exclaim, 236 for number 8 are used for
some braille codes but not for slovak, so I'd like to better
understand this and come up with a natural workflow.
As I have mentioned previously now we have introduced and
standardized a way to type much more symbols by using dot 5,46
and dot 5,4 prefixes with the Braille Authority of Slovakia.
For example to type in the $ (dollar sign) we can do dot 5,
followed by dot 4 followed by dots 234. To type in # (hash
sign) we can press dot 5, then dots 46, then dots 3456.
Would there be a way to get mbraille understand these new
additional braille codes for slovak please?
Since liblouis 3.22 these are implemented for liblouis and
since liblouis 3.36 there are some latest corrections and
additions available.
Also the Braille Authority of Slovakia have published papers
standardizing these slovak braille code features and if doable
I'd like to make MBraille capable of handling it all.
I am technical contact for the liblouis related work here in
slovakia, so if you think my input might be usefull toward
improving MBraille as well, I'm happy to remain available for
the cooperation and discussions.
Huge thanks for working on it.
Greetings
Peter

Hi
Petr,
Thanks
for the positive feedback. Regarding braille tables,
liblouis is used for some, but not all languages. Might
be that Slovak is not yet using liblouis. I'll check and
will make a try with the Slovak tables.
Yes,
I used AI for the first cut of the translations, but it
may well need some curation. I will provide you the
translation files to look at.

Hello,
On my phone the app is working fine.
I haven't tested it with talkback yet but the self
voicing mode is working great.
It's important to know that for me it's easier to
calibrate the keyboard by placing each finger on the
screen individually rather than placing all 6 fingers at
once.
Gesture system is similar to what I was used to with the
previous version.
Is this eventually also going to work as a system wide
keyboard on android in the future?
Can you kindly remind us how language translations of
the app are handled now? I suspect the AI is used for
generating translations. Will you accept translation
work from volunteers the way it used to work in the
past?
Also what about braille tables? Is liblouis used
internally or are these custom tables?
With slovak braille table multi cell symbols don't
appear to work for me. For example when pressing dots
3456 the # symbol is typed instead of switching into
number mode. Dot 5 is also used as a prefix, dots 45 and
dots 56 too.
If liblouis is used internally the proper braille table
for slovak is sk-g1.ctb. If there are custom braille
tables in use similar how it used to work in the past,
then I think I need to contribute changes as the braille
has been formalized in slovakia since last stable
version and there are some minor changes.
Huge thanks for the updates
Greetings
Peter
