Spelling, latency, settings, and SMS issues
Hi, Thanks to J.P. I am up and running. I am having a few issues with the app, described below. As Maybe in the future it would be better for me to put these all in separate threads? 1. Spell check is not working properly for me. I tried it out once and maybe it worked? I think I corrected the word pretend. Now, whenever I spell something wrong, and swipe through the options of replacement words, no matter which word I choose, the word "pretend" is inserted. I have tried quitting the MBraille through the app switcher and restarting it. Also, even though I have the setting enabled to spell out the suggestions, Voiceover only says the word. No spelling. Click sound latency: The click sounds in the newest MBraille feel more latent than in legacy version. I'm measuring about .3 seconds latency versus .2 with the old MBraille. Maybe it's a matter of trimming the front of the sound? Maybe using different clicks? It just feels clunky to type with the clicks here. Settings When swiping through settings voiceover treats each setting as two separate items. I'm getting the following (writing the word swipe for finger swipes. swipe: speak characters button swipe: switch button off chart swipe: play click on keyboard entry (play a click sound when typing characters) swipe: switch button off chart There is a voiceover beep accompanying the word chart. I think it's something related to Voiceover's built in OCR? The bigger issue though is that it feels a bit confusing to have two items per setting. SMS behavior: If I have two contacts, one named brennan and one named brent, if I type sms bren I get a message window with a message to Brennan. I think it would be better hear to see options of contacts that contain "bren" After sending a text from MBraille, I am left in the message window instead of returned to MBraille as in the legacy app. I think I prefer the old way, of being right back in MBraille ready to do the next thing. But maybe that's just habit, and there could be advantages to remaining in the message window. That's all for now. will test more things later. Keith
