for non-english users, Mbraille's Home Screen
Hi all non-English users, I would like to raise a small point that may disturb non-technically minded users. Let's take my case as an example, my iPhone is set to French. On Mbrile's home screen, voiceover speaks French but with the English voice. I don't know how that happens but I noticed that when voiceover'slanguage recognition is on, which it is by default, voiceover may sometime; choosethe wrong voice. In the case of Mbrile's home screen, I don't know if something can be done about this. Thanks as always Harry for your wonderful work. Cheers JPR http://www.jprykiel.com http://soundcloud.com/ryksounet https://www.youtube.com/c/jprykiel Http://www.facebook.com/jprykiel
Do you have a French voice set as your primary voice, and is your primary voice selected rather than a rotor voice? VoiceOver only does the automatic language switching if you are using your primary voice. I do not think it really matters if the primary voice matches your language. I know for me with an English voice as Primary, if I open something that was written in French or German, it uses the French or German voice... Hi, You should be able to choose language and voice that starts up by default when you open mBraille. Does this not work for you? My phone is set to English but I could set French Thomas voice as mBraille default in settings. Hope this helps. Hi all, I have it set the way I want, and it's not a problem for me; but I was thinking of new users who might be disconcerted by this behavior if they haven't changed their default settings on their iPhone. That's why I asked. Cheers, J.P.R http://www.jprykiel.com http://soundcloud.com/ryksounet https://www.youtube.com/c/jprykiel Http://www.facebook.com/jprykiel

hi Ioana, Yes, you can change Mbraille's voice whilst typing, but not on its home screen, you know the place where you choose between keyboard, settings or help. That's where it always turns to English if your iphone is on primary voice. Hi, This sounds very strange to me. I'm not telling VoiceOver to use certain language at any point, I don't think it is even possible. Does it also happen, if you in settings have Use VoiceOver Voice on, and you are not using self voicing? Hi Harri! Look at the language attributes of your code base. I think it forces English in some obscure way. This is specifically about how screenreaders handle interface language of the app in focus. This is only a guess, but hope it is useful. Best regards Thomas Sendt fra min Macbook Pro via Apple mail

Hi again, Testing this, I seem to get the same effect on Android. I switched a test phone to Finnish, and occasionally an American voice is trying to pronounce Finnish, which does not go too well. This would point to an underlying flutter framework bug, as now it is TalkBack and not VoiceOver that is loosing track of languages. I need to investigate further.
