MBraille Beta: First iOS Test Release This is an intermediate beta release. To ensure your current workflow isn't interrupted, this will install as MBraille Beta and will not overwrite the version you downloaded from the App Store. Both Android and iOS versions are available through Firebase, you should have received in invite to test mail already. Note that not all user's device id has finished processing, I got a popup that it will take 24-72 for first time registration. Primary Testing Goals The main objective of this build is to verify the download and installation process for those who have registered their device IDs. Additionally, I am looking for specific feedback on: - Accessibility: How well do VoiceOver and TalkBack perform? - System Commands: Do the mail, call, and sms commands function as expected? - Feedback: Please try the updated feedback command (details below). I plan to release updates on a nearly daily basis over the coming weeks to keep our momentum going. --------------------------------------------------------------- New Feature: Command Mode Command mode replaces the old "dot commands." You can now execute commands anywhere in your text, not just at the beginning of a line. - To Enter: Swipe up with three fingers. - To Execute: Type your command (e.g., google braille or version) and swipe down. - Audio Feedback: Entering/exiting command mode now features an optional audio effect instead of a spoken announcement. --------------------------------------------------------------- ChangeLog - Feedback Command: Now sends an email directly to me (including device and language info for debugging) via your default mail app. - Editing: Fixed issues with text selection, cutting, and pasting. - Announcements: Fixed capital and number sign announcements across several languages. - Localization: Added additional translations for multiple languages. - Stability: Various small fixes and vastly improved automated regression testing. Hi everyone, I’ve finally had some time to devote to MBraille, and I’m pleased to report that progress is going very well. While there is still work to do to reach full parity with the legacy iOS version, the new MBraille has already surpassed the original in several areas—with more improvements on the way. Testing via Firebase For the MBraille Beta, I am using Google’s Firebase service. Since the new MBraille will support both Android and iOS, Firebase allows me to manage distribution for both platforms in one place. Please note: - iOS Users: Device registration is required, but this only needs to be done once. - Security: Emails from Firebase will mention the developer account mpajamarket(a)gmail.com, which is my official account. - Safe Installation: The Beta version installs separately from the App Store/Play Store version. You do not need to worry about losing your stable version; both will coexist on your device. Getting closer to mobile test releases

Hi all, I've been busy with MBraille over the weekend and I am getting ready to test releases with mobile. Does anyone on this list have Android devices? If yes, let me know. You will soon get an email to join testing. The developer email in the invitation is mpajamarket(a)gmail.com, but don't worry, that's me. I'll be using firebase to deliver test versions to both Android and iOS. For Apple users, you will also get an email with instructions on how to register your device for testing. New MBraille Windows version available for download

Hi, I've been working on the Windows version, which shares lots of code for future MBraille on other platforms. Yesterday was quite an efficient day. A new version is available for download: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9pc8z5m4vnz1 Translations are still work in progress, some languages are more complete than others. AI is doing the first draft. The Help now opens in a browser window on Windows, I was told the accessibility of the old help was not good. The actual Help is still very iPhone-oriented, it still needs to be tweaked. I rearranged the Settings a bit, but there is still work to do there. There are probably still places where the screen reader could be made to say something. Once the Windows version is finished, I intend to make Android and iOS versions, which would then be subscription-based. I was initially thinking of prices of €10 / year, or €1 / month. I really cannot say for sure when I will have time to do these. Best regards, Harri P.S. Updated MBraille Desktop version available in Microsoft Store

Hi, MBraille Desktop is now updated in Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/9PC8Z5M4VNZ1 It should have a higher chance of working. While the Store page is not yet translated and is only available in English, the actual app should support all languages that MBraille ever did, and some more, like Dutch. Translations are still work in progress though. The desktop version defaults to self voicing, but it can be toggled from settings to use active screen reader, like NVDA or JAWS. Note that I only tested with NVDA. The speed and language settings only work for self-voicing. The exercise section is still very rudimentary, I will return to that on a later stage. Next starting to work on the phone versions, while waiting for feedback on the Desktop version. Best regards, Harri

A note on MBraille Desktop

Just a quick note: MBraille Desktop does not use touch screen, it uses the regular PC keyboard for entering braille. # PC specific help Use keys fds, jkl to type braille. f,d,s is for points 1,2,3, and j,k,l for points 4,5,6 Other keys are simulating swipes you would do on a touch screen, such as smartphone or tablet. Gesture keys correspond to flicks. space swipe right (adds a space) G,Y swipe right A,H,B swipe left N swipe down (newline) X,C,V swipe down U swipe up W,E,R swipe up escape scrub key, simulates two finger scrub, closes a readonly file or goes to the main menu. F12 same as escape, go back. F5 repeat last thing spoken To simulate multi finger swipes, you press multiple keys: for instance, A,H at same the to time do a two finger swipe left, which deletes the previous word.
