Hi everybody, A few fixes and remaining translations. I'm curious to hear feedback from the fast typists, has the lag improved or remains problematic? Go give it a spin. Best regards, Harri
I've just tested this new release against Braille screen input, and against the original mBraille app from years ago. I'm still noticing a bit of a lag. I have it set to say words only and seem to type fast enough that it just doesn't say some words, and then I have to check to make sure they've been typed. Sent from my iPhone

I also have it speak words, not characters, but I'm probably not fast enough to say for sure, but when a word isn't spoken, it seems I didn't get the space gesture to take. If I then space, the word is spoken. Richard, "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." Hi Harri, Spell check works! That is wonderful. Contact lookup issues remain the biggest issue for me, aside from the odd word getting missed in speech when typing. I've done some more testing on the contact lookup stuff and have more findings. I won't restate the issues mentioned in previous threads, but some other quirks. sms rem Desired behaviour (this works in legacy app): list of all contacts in my phone with the last name Rempel, + any with first names starting with Rem. Current behaviour: Message to my only contact whose first name begins with "Rem." sms mich does not find the one Michelle in my contacts. sms Mich (uppercase m) does find that person. This behaviour seems inconsistent. Some, if not most names, can be looked up without upper case. Some seem to need it. Right now names in my contacts with m seem to be the issue. sms mi returns number could not be found message sms Mi returns a list of the contacts I have with names starting with Mi. Because of the very specific nature of this issue, I wonder if it's something to do with one of my m contacts not having an uppercase M? At any rate, I have never encountered this issue with legacy app, or any other contact lookup situations in other apps. Keith On 2026-03-17 1:52 a.m., Harri Pasanen via MBraille-Test wrote:

Hi Harri, On my Pixel 8 Pro using TalkBack: When I scroll through the MBraille settings by sliding two fingers vertically on the screen, the app closes when I reach the end of the settings. Hope you can reproduce this one. Best regards Daniel

Hi, Good knews is that the backtrace for the crash is exactly the same for my OnePlus, Daniel's Google Pixel and Johanna's Samsung. Bad news is that the bug is upstream, not in MBraille itself. I reported the bug. https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/183818. I will follow if they acknowledge the bug and will try to thing of a possible workaround or other fix. Hi Daniel, Indeed, there seems to be some issue with TalkBack and the settings screen. I did not manage to make it crash just with 2 finger scrolling, but combining that with swiping left and right, I indeed reproduced a crash few times, and starting getting a popup "MBraille Beta keeps crashing", which is not very reassuring. The problem seems to be Talkback, because without Talkback it does not crash. I see what I can do. Best regards, Harri On Tuesday, 17 March 2026 at 23:19, Daniel K.
